Emergency Treatment
All appointments start with a consultation exam. However, an emergency appointment can be made if you are in too much pain and cannot wait to schedule a two-hour appointment.
The doctor can perform a procedure that opens the tooth to remove the nerve, then packs the tooth with medication to kill infection, and finally places a temporary filling. This procedure significantly reduces pain and starts healing until you can return to finish the root canal.
Root Canal Treatment
“Endo” is the Greek word for “inside,” and “odont” is Greek for “tooth.” Endodontic treatment treats the inside of the tooth. Root canal treatment is one type of endodontic treatment.
Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the root canal, becomes inflamed or infected. Inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or a crack or chip in the tooth. In addition, an injury to a tooth may cause pulp damage even if the tooth has no visible chips or cracks. If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.
Root Canal Retreatment
Root canal retreatment, or endodontic retreatment (as a part of our endodontic services), is a dental procedure performed to address issues with a tooth that has previously undergone root canal therapy but still experiences infection, pain, or other problems. It involves the removal of the previous root canal filling material and the cleaning, disinfection, and sealing of the tooth’s root canals to treat any persisting or recurrent issues.
Microsurgery/Apicoectomy
As a way of endodontic services, surgery can help save your tooth in a variety of situations.
Surgery may be used in diagnosis. If you have persistent symptoms but no problems appear on your x-ray, your tooth may have a tiny fracture or canal that could not be detected during nonsurgical treatment. In such a case, surgery allows your endodontist to examine the entire root of your tooth, find the problem, and provide treatment.
